"Kubotan" is defined as  a five to six inch-long stick self-defense weapon made of either steel, wood, strong plastic or other durable material.  

• Kubotans are legal to own in every U.S. state, but local laws might have specific rules.
• If you have a felony conviction or a restraining order, you might not be allowed to own or carry a Kubotan.
• You can’t take Kubotans on commercial flights in your carry-on, but they’re okay in checked luggage.
• Schools, government buildings, and other important places usually don’t allow Kubotans.
